This rare mechanical doorbell set has an unusual push-button mechanism. The beautiful antique button is stamped copper and has a Victorian design. The Bakelite button connects to the back of the bell: when pushed, it activates the mechanical bell on the inside. The antique bell is cast iron with worn brass plating on the cover, and the base has a very nice and finely incised period design. This bell produces a clear, repeating ring both on push and release of the button. Cool beans.
The doorbell, which was made in the late 19th century, is in excellent working condition and the set is ready to be easily installed on your door.
Bell base measures 3 5/8" by 4 3/4". Push button base is 2" wide and 5 1/4" tall. Rod which connects the bell to the twist through your door is 1 1/2" long, so will fit a door up to 2 3/8".
