Travel back in time with this old acoustic guitar. Made by the late, great Kay Musical Instrument Company in Chicago, Illinois, its branded Truetone. Truetone was the guitar brand name of the now-defunct Western Auto department store chain. I looked it up: Western Auto lasted from about 1909 to 2003.
It has a 15-1/4" lower bout. 1-11/16" nut. 25-3/4" scale length. White celluloid pickguard with a couple of eighth notes. Aluminum TRUETONE headstock logo badge.
Cosmetically, it looks good, but has some ordinary age and play wear. Notably, there are some scratches on the back plus some of the painted white fake binding has chipped off.
Structurally, it's in fine shape. The truss rod works.
Functionally, it sounds good. I just put new light strings on it. 12th fret action is set at a playable 7/64" on the bass side and 3/32" on the treble side. It plays all the way up the neck with buzzing.
It's a cool All-American guitar, ready for its next owner.
