Originally built to race on the legendary sand flats of Bonneville in Utah; the owner that commissioned the build was never able to run it at Bonneville due to terminal health conditions.  However, the builder did race it once at Bonneville.   The whole story is captured in Cycle Source magazine that the bike was featured in, article also includes the "Build Sheet".  Bike comes with an original copy of the magazine, I also have a PDF version of the article I can send you on request.

Highlights:
  • 1945 HD Knucklehead Motor bored out to 80ci w/ Wiseco Pistons, Andrews Cam, York Primary, Rare high performace Linkert M35P (police) Carb.
  • Revtech 5 in 4 transmission (5 speed in a 4 speed casing).  Jockey shift, foot clutch
  • Rare Harley Davidson VL Springer Front End (1930'-36')
  • Customized Paughco Frame
  • Rear Drum Sprocket Brake

Bike runs better than ever now! It's spent the last few months at Oceana Cycles (Va Beach) getting a complete end to end inspection, repairs and tuning.  Lots of parts replaced or modified to improve on the original build for safe reliable street use.   Total cost for that work was $3600.  It runs perfectly now and is ready to go "worry free" to it's next owner.   Opening bid is set at my estimated value of the engine/tranny alone!  The HD VL front end is worth $3-4k on top of that...

Why am I selling? I bought the bike last summer as part of a "package deal" from the widow of the original owner (Mad Mike).  Mike was an avid collector and enthuisiast that had a few dozen bikes (near Las Vegas).  I have several myself; including a 46' FL Knucklehead, so I can't justify keeping this one too and don't really have room for it anyway.

If I were keeping it,,, first thing I would do is change the bars to an upright cruiser.  Everyone has different preferences on bars... so I just left it original.  Other than that, headlight needs to be wired up, add a tailight and license plate mount to be street legal.  You'll also want to replace the kill switch with a key switch for better security.

Comes with a Clean Title Virginia in my name (1945 Harley Davidson FL).  Mileage is unknown but can't be much, I'd say less than 50 miles.  Bike had been in storage for several years with oil in the cylinders to protect from any corrosion prior to my purchase. Most likely the only time it was ridden was at Bonneville and then since I bought it last summer.
