Rare Commemorative 1981 1000cc
Milwaukee Limited-Edition Sportster.
Known as the Buy Back Bike or
Milwaukee Special. A genuine piece of Harley Davidson's History
celebrating Harley Davidson's rebirth and return to private ownership in 1981,
when AMF sold the company to a group of investors including Willie G. Davidson,
the grandson of company co-founder William A Davidson.
Only 804 of these motorcycles
were produced. One for every Harley Dealership, one extra for the top 100
Harley dealers, and 4 for promotional purposes.
I have owned this bike for 18
years. The previous owner had owned this bike for over 13 years. During both
ownerships, this bike has not been put down. I cannot say what may have
happened before, but if I had any idea that it had been wrecked previously, I
would not have purchased it. The paint is factory and not a repaint. Some nicks
have been touched up, i.e. gas tank.
When not in use, I set the
fuel indicator to off and run the remainder of the gas out of the carb, and
leave it turned off until the next ride.
A spare rebuilt carburetor, second seat,
and cover are included in the sale.
Fun bike to ride and reminisce
of the days gone by!
During my ownership, this bike
has been serviced at the local Harley Davidson Dealership.
