1952 Harley-Davidson Other

Offered for sale, is one solid 1952 Harley Davidson Hydraglide. A very nostalgic, and prime representative of the period, was acquired "as found", and had been sitting in storage for decades. The bike was meticulously restored mechanically, leaving the "barn find" patina in tact.

The unmolested, matching numbers engine was professionally rebuilt, but upgraded with the addition of 80 inch S&S flywheels, and a sifton A grind cam. The cylinders were only .010 over when the engine was opened up and are now at .020 over with fresh bore, std compression pistons and rings. The valves were sitting proud in their seats and had not been bastardized, or cut down multiple times. The original M74 Linkert has also been rebuilt and upgraded to a "rubber ducky" float.

The original 4 speed, hand shift transmission has also been rebuilt, with the upgraded 1959 and later 1st gear cluster and 3rd gear.

Also of note is the rebuilt original speedo, (mileage showing is unconfirmed and is not the current mileage on the rebuild ), new radial tires, new clutch, new brake linings, rebuilt generator, new primary and drive chains. Wheel hubs have also been rebuilt, allowing the machine to roll effortlessly. The frame is virgin and has no mods.

The carb is connected by an accessory "snap throttle", but still has the original cable inside the handlebars, and includes the original spiral and grip, if someone wants to return to the solid wire control.

Front fender lamp is a period, non standard add on. The saddlebags are period correct, and are in exceptional condition.

Paint is decent, and shows well, but does show age, wear and minor imperfections. Most of the chrome shows aging, but there is no signs of rot, scaling or cancer.

The bike has been sitting for several years, so I expect it to need a "wake up service", possibly a carb flush, new battery, tuning and adjustments.
