1938 Indian Four Cylinder - Unrestored - Original Paint!
Motor Rebuilt - Ready to Ride!
They're only original paint one time!!!

MORE PICTURES COMING!  The short video is all I can load to the auction as far as I know.  But this video and another of the bike going down the street are on our website - bobsindiansales . com.  Turn up the volume when you watch!

Unrestored, original paint motorcycles are very sought after and getting harder to find!  Please read to the end to hear the full story of it's life.

This bike is being offered for sale by Bob's Indian Sales & Service LLC - Robin Markey.  For those of you that don't know, my father started Bob's Indian Sales & Service back in the 50's, then sold the Indian Enfields and other English bikes the Indian Factory imported, then in 1960 added Honda motorcycles.  The shop went from selling the Indians, Indian Enfield and Hondas to fixing, repairing and restoring them.  We never really stopped!   I spent my life in our motorcycle shop, the school bus dropped me off after school.  Because it was hard not to learn a lot about these motorcycles, I became a judge for the AMCA for over 30 years, 7 of which as the Assistant Chief Judge.  I am the Chief Judge of the Indian Four Cylinder Club of America, and Chief Judge of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle (now Motorsports) Swap Meet & Show, and Chief Judge of the Springfield Indian Motorcycle Club of America, and judged for a few of the Concours d'Elegance shows.

Everything works on this 1938 Indian Four the way Indian intended it to work.  There are no breaks, cracks, or welds on the cases.  They are matching number cases.  There are very few older reproduction parts on this machine, mainly the footboard mats and handle grips.  The instruments are original (original ignition switch, ammeter and speedometer).  If you're going to ride this bike a lot and long distances, you might want to put on new tires and tubes.  They look good, they're Pirelli Universal MT53's.

This is also a very straight machine.  Not bent or twisted.  You can ride down the road with your hands off the handlebars!  I know, I've done it!  I think you're going to have a hard time finding a better one.

Now for its history:  We've had this motorcycle since1969.  My father actually owned it in 1958 or 1959, sold it to a local older gentleman and we got it back from him in 1969.  This Four Cylinder is a proven motorcycle.  I personally put 11,000 miles on this motorcycle from 1977 to 1987, this was riding to and from the Indian Four Cylinder Meet in Tiffin, Ohio, and a few other meets.

Before I rode it for those 10 years, we freshened the motor up in the early 70's with the parts that we hand at the time.  We had honed the cylinders and put .010 over original Indian Four pistons in it, a new clutch and transmission gears.   But in 1987 when it was getting very tired, we pulled the motor out for a complete rebuild, reground the crank, new old stock main bearings, rebabbitted the rods, new clutch, new old stock mainshaft and bearings, new valves and valve springs.  The bores and the original .010 over pistons were still in great shape so just new rings were installed.  It runs like a top!!  It does need broke in, it only has about 100 miles on it since the rebuild.  Busy, just too busy!  Hopefully that changes when I retire!!

I think you're going to have a hard time finding a better, nicer looking, original paint Indian Four.  It's a good "4", but I just can't keep'em all........

This bike can be picked up at Bob's Indian Sales & Service LLC in Etters, Pennsylvania, or I will bring it to the Indian Four Cylinder Meet in Tiffin, Ohio on August 8, 9 and 10, 2024.

Thank you, Robin Markey
