This is a rare Coleman vintage lantern model no. 242 my research dates it back to 1932-1933 pre 1936 as it has no A B or C which makes it a great deal harder to find. It is marked 3000 on the chamber casting above the burner cap. On the collar below the Coleman name it says Made in USA. The opposite side says “To light-open valve quarter (1/4) Turn only

After Mantle Burns Bright Open valve as far as possible”. THIS LANTERN HAS NEVER BEEN TESTED. The only discernible number on the bottom is 2 due to lots of solder on the bottom. . The open close device works. The green top is made with enamel and the bottom is brass with a nickel plate. The handle is movable up or down and has a bit of rust on it as well as the top. It measures 11 3/4” tall and 19” with the handle open. The weight is 2 lbs 81oz and width is 5” across the bottom. There are a couple of holes on the bottom which can be repaired it is also missing the globe and cap to the fuel tank. Please feel free to ask me any questions!
